Wow, I'm glad that my sister mentioned this book to me a few weeks ago as somehow I'd either not heard of it, glossed over any mention of it, or I'd totally forgotten that I'd ever heard of. It would be the adventure of a lifetime for anyone else, but Allan has a larger-than-life backstory: he has not only witnessed some of the most important events of the 20th century, but actually played a key role in them.
