Right now I make $55k a year but feel I could make closer to $80k a year if not even more elsewhere. or promotion? One guy had lasted 9 months and another was finishing up 2 years.

If you feel your market value is higher than you're getting, you can usually have a pretty upfront discussion about it (unless the management is completely insane or incompetent, which unfortunately isn't all that uncommon now that I think about it...).I just turned in my self-eval which is the start of the annual review/raise process. If you get an offer, THEN you can compare it to your current job and see if it seems like it'd be a good move or not.New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be castLearn about budgeting, saving, getting out of debt, credit, investing, and retirement planning. $25k can buy you a a lot of love.I can only hope that would be the case. Give your employer an opportunity to retain you before jumping ship, if you are happy there.I jumped ship one year ago from an underpaid job with great work/life balance, good sick leave/vacation to take a very highly paid, bad work/life balance, high stress, only PTO (no sick leave) job. you gotta start before you can be good at something. Never in several years would I think I could even be making that much more after just 1 year of professional experience outside of college, especially during COVID19. I hope your experience is different, but personally I'd go back to my previous job in a heartbeat. I started a new job and by day 3 I could tell it was a disaster. i have a better life work balance and i can actually take my accrued pto loli guess i'm saying, other more well paying jobs might be even better in terms of lifestyle. Maybe in 5 to 10 years you can look into moving on, but for now, stay? Thanks that does help. working somewhere with stress and little flexibility, I would happily take a pay cut in exchange for the above. You cannot put a price on your sanity. I hope your experience is different, but personally I'd go back to my previous job in a heartbeat.Have you spoke with your manager about a raise? It's not uncommon for people who have been with a company for 5+ years to find themselves making less than new people with half their experience just because of market force. This is the employer's chance to tell you why you should work for them. Get hired. He did interview and the raise would have been closer to 15k.

But perhaps consider the company. allll the time! hot new top rising. I was making 55 I asked for 60 after evals. The information provided is from their perspective.
I was in a similar position not so long ago and I had an offer from my previous employer because I left with a good reputation. I’m essentially in the same boat, I can make substantially more if I change jobs, but is it even worth it knowing I am leaving the best job culture I’ve ever had.Honestly, I went through a very similar situation. Or am I better off with substantially lower pay to stay at a place I enjoy going everyday?Speaking from experience, ie. If no one has been working there for very long, and it's not a new company, that may be a red flag. It’s just hard to quantify what the culture is worth.Depends what your goal is in life. make sure if you have an interview that you ask if you can email one or two employees regarding lifestyleRight now you may be earning 55k a year. I love that you can indulge your interests in weird cat memes as equally as your political, news-minded or sci-fi curiosities.

I’m worried that if I leave that I will never get that again.Interviewing is a great way to see what I’m really worth.
What I'm getting at is that sometimes chasing money puts you in a soul sucking situation so be careful chasing green grass.I’m in a similar job now. Aside from glassdoor or having access to payroll data, one of the best ways to know if you're underpaid is to go on interviews. The non-payroll benefits and flexibility are amazing.
