The findings reveal the crime hot spots for offences including drug use, theft and blackmail across NSW and which suburbs have welcomed a slow down in crime.Canterbury-Bankstown takes out top spot for abduction and kidnapping with 17 offences recorded last year as well as the highest number of blackmail and extortion offences in NSW, as well as being the drug manufacture capital of Sydney with the highest number of offences (7) recorded last year.The Cumberland area including Lidcombe and Merrylands had the highest number of attempted murder offences (3) for any other suburb in Sydney.The five-year trend shows the biggest jumps have been in Waverley for cocaine use and possession which increased 39.5 per cent and liquor offences skyrocketed in Canterbury-Bankstown area by 38.2 per cent.The annual trend during 2017-2018, reveals liquor offences in Cessnock surged a whopping 98 per cent and stealing from a car in the Blue Mountains increased 75.8 per cent.The Sutherland Shire recorded a 90 per cent increase in offences relating to criminal intent and the Northern Beaches spiked over 65 per cent in receiving or handling stolen goods.The good news for Fairfield is a decrease over the last five years for liquor offences, down 29 per cent and transport regulatory offences are down 23.4 per cent in Canada Bay.In North Sydney, the possession and/or use of cocaine is down 56.1 per cent over the last two years, and dealing, trafficking in narcotics is down in Sydney CBD by 67.5 per cent.And in the Inner West, dealing, trafficking in amphetamines is down 34.3 per cent over the last two years, but fraud in Bellingen leapt 160 per cent since 2017.Fraud increased in Hunters Hill by 22.6 per cent since 2013 and intimidation, stalking and harassment increased in the area by 65.2 per cent.Woollahra saw a decrease in indecent assault, act of indecency and other sexual offences by 41.5 per cent and break and enter dwelling offences are down 36.8 per cent since 2016. Most white came to there as migrants as well.

Generally well-lit, with solid infrastructure and low total crime rates, there are few spots in Sydney where you’ll ever have to feel truly unsafe – even at night.
