I just ordered Series 3 (which just came out with English subtitles) last week. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Among them Beck and Wallander stand out, though they are hardly alone. The show I watched was about young child murder and prostitution; not much fun to watch. The directing is okay...not fantastic. The theater has always thrived in Sweden, and in such a small country it is as if the local equivalent of the Royal Shakespeare Company provides the casts for television and film over and over again.

I might try one more but the single episodes are expensive so it has to get a lot better faster for me to continue to buy. Now, having gotten that off my chest, I'll say that this is a really good series. The people in this cop show are hard to like. The stories are complex. The humor content is zero which sets it apart from some other European cop shows (which I much prefer to American shows).
